Now is the Time!
The deadline to submit public comments on the Draft Environmental Assessment SpaceX Falcon 9 Operations at Space Launch Complex 40, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida is Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11:59pm.
It is important to voice your opinion on how increased Falcon 9 activities at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station’s Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC40) will affect you, your environment and your natural resources.
Individuals and organizations may submit anonymous comments that the FAA will consider as they determine what the environmental effect of 120 Falcon 9 launches and 34 landings will be, and how to best mitigate that environmental effect. To submit a public comment to the FAA visit https://www.regulations.gov/document/FAA-2025-0114-0001.
Submitted comments become part of the public record and can be read by anyone. Comments may be viewed at https://www.regulations.gov/document/FAA-2025-0114-0001/comment. Reviewing submitted comments is very helpful when determining what you would like to voice to the FAA. You may submit your comments anonymously or use the opportunity to let the world know that your organization cares.
The IRL Roundtable has determined that the best formula for an environmental assessment comment is a short introductory paragraph followed by 4-6 bullet points listed by the EA’s sections, and then a short closing paragraph. Short and simple is best.
You may submit your text online through the FAA submission form. We suggest writing your comments in a text editor and then going online to copy/paste the text into the submission form. This method will directly display your comments to anyone viewing the comments online.
You may also submit your public comments by attaching a computer text file. Write and save your comments in your text editor and then go to the online submission form to attach your text file. Comments submitted by computer file attachment must be downloaded to be viewed.
The file attachment submission method allows you to include formatting, images, citations and hyperlinks in your public comment. This method will also provide a shareable public link that can be shared with your online network.
Either way, Now is the Time to submit your FAA Falcon 9 environmental assessment comments!
