Cape Canaveral Spaceport – On Friday April 21, 2023 IRL Roundtable members Lew Kontnik and Michael Myjak represented the Indian River Lagoon environment at Blue Origin’s Earth Day Celebration.
Blue Origin invited local environmental organizations to participate in their Earth Day Celebration held at the company’s facility at Cape Canaveral Spaceport’s Exploration Park. Several organizations participated in the event including the IRL Roundtable, Brevard’s Save Our IRL program and St. Johns River Water Management District.
The Roundtable members spoke with numerous Blue Origin employees who showed genuine interest in the condition of the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary. Attendees were offered an IRL Roundtable Spaceport brochure that describes the current condition of the IRL and how America’s “Estuary of National Significance” will be affected by the development of a commercial spaceport within its boundaries.
