This month James Moir, MRC interim Executive Director and Indian River Lagoon RiverKeeper, will provide an exciting presentation about making the IRL a National Park!

The Indian River Lagoon is recognized as a National Estuary which spans 181 miles across Florida’s East Coast, from Volusia’s Halifax River southward to Jupiter Inlet in Palm Beach. This estuary is one of the most bio-diverse habitats in North America with nearly 4,000 plant and animal species. Our guest speaker James Moir will discuss how we can enhance the preservation of this unique national treasure by creating the Indian River Lagoon National Park.

James is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Marine Resources Council and interim Executive Director. He is the newest Indian RiverKeeper, a position that he has held for nine months. He is also a member of the Leadership Team of the Rivers Coalition, and a member and supporter of many local civic and environmental groups.
